Renewing your ICF ACC credential is a structured process that requires planning. The renewal process, when followed properly, is smooth and straightforward. This guide covers everything you need to know: requirements, timelines, fees, and step-by-step instructions to make your ACC renewal stress-free.

Why Renew?

Renewal is not just complying with the ICF requirements, but also a commitment to your growth as a coach.

  • Renewing your ICF credential is an investment in professional growth and credibility, and reaffirms your commitment to coaching excellence
  • It is a declaration to your clients and yourself that you are dedicated to continuous learning and delivering the highest service standards
  • Also, you are not permitted by ICF to use the Credential Logo once it expires
  • A 2-month grace period is provided following the credential expiration date, pending review of the application renewal 

You can submit your renewal application up to 10 months before your credential expires.

Renewal Fees for ACC 

  • For an ICF member         175 USD 
  • For a Non-ICF member   275 USD  

Once submitted, renewal applications are typically reviewed within 6-8 weeks.

ACC Credential Renewal Requirements

  • At least 40 CCEUs completed in the three years since the initial award of your credential or since your last renewal. 
  • Of the 40 CCE credits required: 
    • At least 24 CCE credits must be in Core Competencies. 
    • At least 3 credits must be in Coaching Ethics. 
    • 10 hours of Mentor Coaching with an eligible Mentor coach over a period of three months
    • Up to a maximum of 16 hours can be in Resource Development

How to track the completion of 40 CCEUs

  • It is a good practice to input your CCEUs as soon as you earn them
  • To add CCEUs
    • Log in to your ICF Profile
    • Under “My Credentials”, click on the “Credential Renewal Application” link
    • Select the “Continuing Coach Education” tab 
    • Click on “Enter Education Hours” to begin logging CCE Hours

For renewal of your ACC credential, once the 40 CCEUs are completed with 10 hours of mandatory mentoring, the submission process is as below:

  1. Access your ICF profile: Log in to your ICF account on the ICF website. 
  2. Find the renewal application: Under “My Credentials,” locate the “Credential Renewal Application” link associated with your ACC credential. 
  3. Navigate to the CCE section: Select the “Continuing Coach Education” tab within the renewal application. 
  4. For each of the CCE types, i.e. Coaching Ethics, Core Competency, Resource Development, Mentor Coaching, the status should be updated as “Completed” and you will notice “100%” highlighted in Green. 
  5. Submit your application: You are now ready to submit your application and pay the credential renewal fees.
